In the 7th minute Örn Björgólfsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flemming Edgarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dvalinn Valbergsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dvalinn Valbergsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Flemming Edgarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flemming Edgarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dvalinn Valbergsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Berghreinn Knútsson took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rósar Þorrason. Rósar Þorrason dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Dvalinn Valbergsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Gömlu Skordýrin's Dvalinn Valbergsson in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vetrarsól's goalie prevented a goal. Dvalinn Valbergsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Starri Þrándsson got free with Rósar Þorrason in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berghreinn Knútsson in the 45th minute of play forced Gömlu Skordýrin's goalkeeper Rósar Þorrason to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Berghreinn Knútsson was the one to do the kick off. Rósar Þorrason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svanur Hrútsson in the 52nd minute of play. Sigmundur Steinsson charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sigmundur Steinsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 53 minutes into the game, one of Vetrarsól:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Starri Þrándsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rósar Þorrason having to interfere. Rósar Þorrason made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berghreinn Knútsson in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute of the match, Dvalinn Valbergsson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Flemming Edgarsson was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Dvalinn Valbergsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Auðbert Jafetsson got free in front of the goal in the 73rd minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Flemming Edgarsson was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Vetrarsól's Flemming Edgarsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Vetrarsól from getting a goal against them. 87 minutes into the match, Vetrarsól's goalkeeper Flemming Edgarsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dvalinn Valbergsson. When the match was over Gömlu Skordýrin could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Vetrarsól throughout the match.
