After 26 played minutes Red Bull Iceland got a freekick which was hit by Sólmundur Axelsson. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hjörtur Eilífsson in the 27th minute of play forced Red Bull Iceland's goalkeeper Guttormur Egilsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Meba Vík's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Sigfússon came free, but Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hugo Sigfússon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sírus Sveinlaugsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Gilbert Kjartansson came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Red Bull Iceland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilbert Kjartansson couldn't finish the play. In the 61st minute, Meba Vík's Sírus Sveinlaugsson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Hjörtur Eilífsson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, Guttormur Egilsson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Hjörtur Eilífsson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Guttormur Egilsson when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
