The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Addi Sigfastsson during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gregor Björgólfsson hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Dagfari Vilhjálmsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. JKS Jarosław's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lechia Gdańsk the free kick. The supporters of Lechia Gdańsk booed when JKS Jarosław was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Þjóðbjörn Adolfsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 22nd minute of the match Addi Sigfastsson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Addi Sigfastsson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 42nd minute Sesar Þorrason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hafni Sindrason saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 43 minutes of play, Lechia Gdańsk's Lórenz Barðason made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hafni Sindrason was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Lechia Gdańsk were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Hafni Sindrason took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagfari Vilhjálmsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hafni Sindrason was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Örn Jafetsson showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 67 minute of play. Lechia Gdańsk's Örn Jafetsson got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dagfari Vilhjálmsson had several of the JKS Jarosław's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 77 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-5 score and a disappointed Hafni Sindrason as he didn't even see the shot coming. If Rúdólf Ásgeirsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. When Lórenz Barðason came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Lechia Gdańsk fans jumped to their feet. Romulo Ortiz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steinar Vilhelmsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Lechia Gdańsk's Romulo Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Steinar Vilhelmsson in the 92nd minute of play. Örn Jafetsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The JKS Jarosław fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Lechia Gdańsk were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
