The audience thought a goal was coming when Örn Jafetsson got free with Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 44 minutes into the match, Lechia Gdańsk's goal looked a bit too open when Sírus Sveinlaugsson came free, but Romulo Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dagfari Vilhjálmsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dagfari Vilhjálmsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Örn Jafetsson scored 4-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lechia Gdańsk's Romulo Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sírus Sveinlaugsson in the 56th minute of play. In the 60th minute Sesar Þorrason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sesar Þorrason, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Meba Vík's zone, Örn Jafetsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristleifur Gunnsteinsson came out of the goal and Örn Jafetsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
