Steinmar Þorkelsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lechia Gdańsk's Romulo Ortiz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Lechia Gdańsk from getting a goal against them. Gná Borgarfirði's Auðbjörn Hlöðversson got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sesar Þorrason sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Lechia Gdańsk's Dagfari Vilhjálmsson in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A collision led to Gná Borgarfirði getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Kristófer Helgason hit a great ball. Dagfari Vilhjálmsson had several of the Gná Borgarfirði's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 53 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-4 score and a disappointed Steinmar Þorkelsson as he didn't even see the shot coming. When Örn Jafetsson came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Lechia Gdańsk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Örn Jafetsson couldn't finish the play. After 60 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lechia Gdańsk! After a long run with the ball, Heikir Eyjólfsson did a trick in the 63rd minute in front of Lechia Gdańsk's goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 2-4. An impressive performance by Gná Borgarfirði's Heikir Eyjólfsson! Örn Jafetsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steinmar Þorkelsson having to interfere. Guðbjarni Guðbjartsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Steinmar Þorkelsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lechia Gdańsk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lórenz Barðason was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gná Borgarfirði's Steinmar Þorkelsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Örn Jafetsson in the 87th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gná Borgarfirði's zone, Örn Jafetsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Steinmar Þorkelsson came out of the goal and Örn Jafetsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Örn Jafetsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lechia Gdańsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Örn Jafetsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steinmar Þorkelsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kristófer Helgason hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Örn Jafetsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steinmar Þorkelsson having to interfere. Dagfari Vilhjálmsson struck a weak shot in the 98th minute. Steinmar Þorkelsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lechia Gdańsk. Lechia Gdańsk's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
