Októvíus Hálfdánsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Steinar Sturluson went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Steinar Sturluson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Steinar Sturluson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Októvíus Hálfdánsson having to make a save. In the 42nd minute Ríkharður Harðarson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Októvíus Hálfdánsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Steinar Sturluson notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Dalur Djúpivogi's Októvíus Hálfdánsson. Októvíus Hálfdánsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Valur Ísafirði were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Steinar Sturluson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Dalur Djúpivogi's zone, Steinar Sturluson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Októvíus Hálfdánsson came out of the goal and Steinar Sturluson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 56 played minutes Valur Ísafirði got a freekick which was hit by Muggur Benjamínsson. 60 minutes into the game, Bernódus Þormóðsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Októvíus Hálfdánsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Steinar Sturluson might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Októvíus Hálfdánsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Steinar Sturluson ran back to his position shaking his head. After 69 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Valur Ísafirði! If Bernódus Þormóðsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valur Ísafirði's Ríkharður Harðarson got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dalur Djúpivogi's Októvíus Hálfdánsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ríkharður Harðarson in the 84th minute of play. Ríkharður Harðarson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Októvíus Hálfdánsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Blær Oddvarsson came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Valur Ísafirði fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blær Oddvarsson couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Blær Oddvarsson in the 89th minute of play forced Dalur Djúpivogi's goalkeeper Októvíus Hálfdánsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Dalur Djúpivogi's zone, Bernódus Þormóðsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat.
