Sigursteinn Viðarsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hreimur Oddsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Fram Bíldudal's zone, Hreimur Oddsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sigursteinn Viðarsson came out of the goal and Hreimur Oddsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Björg Blönduósi booed when Fram Bíldudal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reinhart Búason didn't get a good kick on the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freymóður Ævarsson couldn't finish the play. 24 minutes into the match, Fram Bíldudal's goal looked a bit too open when Hreimur Oddsson came free, but Sigursteinn Viðarsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sigursteinn Viðarsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hreimur Oddsson in the 29th minute. Hreimur Oddsson had several of the Fram Bíldudal's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 32 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Sigursteinn Viðarsson as he didn't even see the shot coming. The audience was convinced that Hreimur Oddsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sigursteinn Viðarsson was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. In the 69th match minute, Björg Blönduósi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Freymóður Ævarsson to maneuver through the defense. Sigursteinn Viðarsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hreimur Oddsson's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. Sigursteinn Viðarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hreimur Oddsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hreimur Oddsson in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sigursteinn Viðarsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Bjarnfreður Gautsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Freymóður Ævarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sigursteinn Viðarsson having to interfere. After some careless play in the Fram Bíldudal defense, Hreimur Oddsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sigursteinn Viðarsson. The Fram Bíldudal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sigursteinn Viðarsson should have stopped the shot. If Hreimur Oddsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Kristmundur Nikulásarson came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Björg Blönduósi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kristmundur Nikulásarson couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Björg Blönduósi were the better team. Björg Blönduósi's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
