After 13 minutes of play, Akkur Húsavík's Marteinn Böðvarsson made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kalmann Ingmarsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Freysteinn Jökulsson. Freysteinn Jökulsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After a rather tough play, Akkur Húsavík's Kolbeinn Guðbjörnsson got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute Fjalar Hásteinsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Freysteinn Jökulsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Akkur Húsavík's zone, Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Freysteinn Jökulsson came out of the goal and Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Hlíðar Kristbergsson fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Akkur Húsavík's protests and gave Hlíðar Kristbergsson a yellow card for diving instead. 43 minutes into the game, one of Akkur Húsavík:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Friðleifur Aðalsteinsson shot the penalty kick right outside the post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson made a kick off. Fjalar Hásteinsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freysteinn Jökulsson having to interfere. In the 60th minute of the match, Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Freysteinn Jökulsson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fjalar Hásteinssons short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Freysteinn Jökulsson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, Akkur Húsavík's Sigbert Hjörvarsson got a free kick in the 74th minute. 75 minutes in the game, Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Freysteinn Jökulsson having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Brjánn Sveinbjörnsson in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Freysteinn Jökulsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 84 minutes into the game Friðleifur Aðalsteinsson came into a good position and shot a long shot on goal. In spite of Freysteinn Jökulsson trying to reach the ball it went through just inside the left pole. 2-3. The supporters of Akkur Húsavík booed when Stoð Þingeyri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brynjúlfur Alexandersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 89 minutes into the game, one of Akkur Húsavík:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The Akkur Húsavík fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Stoð Þingeyri were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
