Finnur Ingmarsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hersteinn Valgarðsson having to make a save. In the 36th minute, Freygarður Björgvinsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grjónið Hellu's Hersteinn Valgarðsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Grjónið Hellu from getting a goal against them. When Bjarnólfur Eiðsson fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grjónið Hellu's protests and gave Bjarnólfur Eiðsson a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Eitill Akranesi booed when Grjónið Hellu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bjarnólfur Eiðsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eitill Akranesi's Finnur Ingmarsson got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hlér Andrésson to strike the kick off in the second half. Lýður Dagsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Lýður Dagsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Bjarnólfur Eiðsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Grjónið Hellu's zone, Hlér Andrésson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hersteinn Valgarðsson came out of the goal and Hlér Andrésson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Öndólfur Ljótsson's late challenge caught a Eitill Akranesi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Öndólfur Ljótsson helped the player get up and apologised. After 74 played minutes Grjónið Hellu got a freekick which was hit by Öndólfur Ljótsson. Hersteinn Valgarðsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hlér Andrésson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lýður Dagsson took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Esekíel Eðvarsson. Esekíel Eðvarsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Hersteinn Valgarðsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hlér Andrésson in the 80th minute of the match. Öndólfur Ljótsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Esekíel Eðvarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86th minute there was a penalty for Grjónið Hellu. Esekíel Óskarsson stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Esekíel Eðvarsson. 0-2. Lýður Dagsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute, Lýður Dagsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grjónið Hellu's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
