Valgarður Öræfi's Ölnir Gunnlaugsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Birkir Sigmarsson in the 12th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vilmundur Ívarsson got free with Hjálmur Arndórsson in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 15th minute Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hjálmur Arndórsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson in the 17th minute of play forced Vernd Grindavík's goalkeeper Hjálmur Arndórsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hjálmur Arndórsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes into the match, Vernd Grindavík's goal looked a bit too open when Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson came free, but Hjálmur Arndórsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vilmundur Ívarsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ölnir Gunnlaugsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Austmar Jónþórsson in the 31st minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hjálmur Arndórsson. That made the score 1-0 in the 32 minute of play. Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hjálmur Arndórsson having to interfere. Vilmundur Ívarsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hjálmur Arndórsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vilmundur Ívarsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Dan Guðmundsson hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After 41 played minutes Vernd Grindavík got a freekick which was hit by Austmar Jónþórsson. Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hjálmur Arndórsson having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hjálmur Arndórsson. Vernd Grindavík's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Vernd Grindavík's Hjálmur Arndórsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson in the 61st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hjálmur Arndórsson was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Snjólaugur Geraldsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Ölnir Gunnlaugsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. But to his dismay, Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Hjálmur Arndórsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vilmundur Ívarsson in the 84th minute of play. Ölnir Gunnlaugsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austmar Jónþórsson in the 85th minute of play. A collision led to Vernd Grindavík getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Stefán Konráðsson hit a great ball. Bjarnfinnur Sigþórsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Hjálmur Arndórsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hjálmur Arndórsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vilmundur Ívarsson in the 96th minute of the match. When the referee ended the match the Valgarður Öræfi players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
