Þór Karelsson came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Task Mývatni's Auðbergur Gretarsson. But to his dismay, Auðbergur Gretarsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 24th minute, Auðbergur Gretarsson made a precise shot to the right of Þór Karelsson. ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. The audience was convinced that Auðbergur Gretarsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Þór Karelsson was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. After 36th play minutes Auðbergur Gretarsson shot 0-7, a short shot which went by Þór Karelsson and just under the crossbar into goal. After having played for 39 minutes, Auðbergur Gretarsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Task Mývatni fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-9. 48 minutes into the game, Task Mývatni's Auðbergur Gretarsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Þór Karelsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-10. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-10.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hrólfur Tryggvason was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Þór Karelsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Auðbergur Gretarsson had several of the ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 59 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-11 score and a disappointed Þór Karelsson as he didn't even see the shot coming. Þór Karelsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Auðbergur Gretarsson's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Auðbergur Gretarsson succeeded in the game's 64th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-12. In the 71st minute, Þorvaldur Hrólfsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Task Mývatni fans' excitement grew in the 73rd match minute when Task Mývatni's Auðbergur Gretarsson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-13 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Task Mývatni's supporters rose to their feet, but Auðbergur Gretarsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Þór Karelsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 84th minute by Walter Snæbjörnsson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 86thth minute of the game Auðbergur Gretarsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ's Þór Karelsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Auðbergur Gretarsson put it in 0-14 from a short distance just to the right of Þór Karelsson. Þór Karelsson made a fantastic save in the 91st minute, when Walter Snæbjörnsson sent off a good shot on target. Task Mývatni's Auðbergur Gretarsson was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 92nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Walter Snæbjörnsson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Þór Karelsson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Þórörn Vagnsson fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ's protests and gave Þórörn Vagnsson a yellow card for diving instead. After 96 played minutes ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ got a freekick which was hit by Þórörn Vagnsson. In the 98th minute of the match Valdór Pálsson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Þór Karelsson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 99 minutes into the match, ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ's goal looked a bit too open when Auðbergur Gretarsson came free, but Þór Karelsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Auðbergur Gretarsson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Þór Karelsson. That made the score 0-16 in the 99 minute of play. The ⓘⓒⓔ ⓑⓐⓑⓨ fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Task Mývatni were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
