The Garðabæ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sváfnir Játvarðarson should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Garðabæ's Ölver Runólfsson got a free kick in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Garðabæ's goalkeeper Sváfnir Játvarðarson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Austmar Hjaltason. Kristmundur Knútsson took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sváfnir Játvarðarson. Sváfnir Játvarðarson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Sváfnir Játvarðarson was a little too slow when Níls Margeirsson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 15th minute. The score was now 4-0. With a little luck, Garðabæ's Sváfnir Játvarðarson got control of the ball when Össur Ármannsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Austmar Hjaltason fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sváfnir Játvarðarson having to interfere. Sváfnir Játvarðarson was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Össur Ármannsson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Össur Ármannsson really showed his touch with that goal: 5-0. In the 29th minute, Manchester United's Austmar Hjaltason ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Sváfnir Játvarðarson. Sváfnir Játvarðarson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 7-0. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Austmar Hjaltason took a quick shot and it went in 8-0 without a chance for Sváfnir Játvarðarson to make any attempt to save it. 35 minutes into the match, Össur Ármannsson notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Garðabæ's Sváfnir Játvarðarson. Sváfnir Játvarðarson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Austmar Hjaltason hit a great ball. Tumi Gissurarson hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Kristmundur Knútsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester United's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristmundur Knútsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sváfnir Játvarðarson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Austmar Hjaltason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Austmar Hjaltason sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 54thth minute of the game Össur Ármannsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Garðabæ's Sváfnir Játvarðarson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Austmar Hjaltason had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kristmundur Knútsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The attack was good, but when Austmar Hjaltason in the 70th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Össur Ármannsson in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sváfnir Játvarðarson saved Garðabæ from getting behind. The supporters of Manchester United booed when Garðabæ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ófeigur Reimarsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 75th minute Austmar Hjaltason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sváfnir Játvarðarson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 76 minutes into the game, Níls Margeirsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 11-0. Sváfnir Játvarðarson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 82nd minute Austmar Hjaltason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sváfnir Játvarðarson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garðabæ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Austmar Hjaltason was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 14-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Manchester United had played much better football throughout.
