The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arnúlfur Níelsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jarl Hafsteinsson's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Walter Snæbjörnsson in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Austmar Janusson saved V.V.V - Venlo from getting behind. V.V.V - Venlo's Austmar Janusson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Snæbjörnsson in the 13th minute of play. Rafnar Sveinsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Task Mývatni's Arnúlfur Níelsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarl Hafsteinsson in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute Auðbergur Gretarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Austmar Janusson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rafnar Sveinsson during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 22 played minutes V.V.V - Venlo got a freekick which was hit by Rafnar Sveinsson. In the 29th minute Walter Snæbjörnsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Austmar Janusson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 2-0 became the score in the 31st minute when Justin Kluivert elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 35th minute, Erling Laufarsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Austmar Janusson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Öndólfur Freybjörnsson kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Task Mývatni's Arnúlfur Níelsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Task Mývatni from getting a goal against them. In the 43rd minute, Öndólfur Freybjörnsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Task Mývatni were furious when Valdór Pálsson was red carded, 90 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Austmar Janusson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. V.V.V - Venlo were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
