Sváfnir Játvarðarson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Task Mývatni. Erling Laufarsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sváfnir Játvarðarson having to make a save. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Garðabæ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Steinbjörn Hafsteinsson was slow to take the kick. During this time Task Mývatni's players had a chance to rest. Kolskeggur Njálsson was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 30th minute, Geirtryggur Guðleifsson made a precise shot to the right of Sváfnir Játvarðarson. Garðabæ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Garðabæ's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Walter Snæbjörnsson scored to the left of an out of position Sváfnir Játvarðarson, making the score, 5-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Auðbergur Gretarsson in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sváfnir Játvarðarson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Erling Laufarsson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 38th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Auðbergur Gretarsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sváfnir Játvarðarson having to make a save. Auðbergur Gretarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sváfnir Játvarðarson having to interfere. After 46 minutes, Auðbergur Gretarsson made it 6-0 with a short kick to the right side. Garðabæ's Sváfnir Játvarðarson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Auðbergur Gretarsson to make the kick off. In the 54thth minute of the game Walter Snæbjörnsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Garðabæ's Sváfnir Játvarðarson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Auðbergur Gretarsson couldn't finish the play. Sváfnir Játvarðarson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Auðbergur Gretarsson went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. 84 minutes into the game, Auðbergur Gretarsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Sváfnir Játvarðarson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience was convinced that Auðbergur Gretarsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sváfnir Játvarðarson was relentless in the 87th minute of the game.
