The referee showed Radiša Dimović the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Pirot getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Radiša Dimović hit a great ball. Radiša Dimović was shown his second yellow card after 25 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Slaviša Vujanović in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marinko Rukavina prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 33 played minutes Izbište got a freekick which was hit by Željko Jovančov. The coaching staff of Izbište protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jezdimir Kuveljić had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 52nd minute of the game. One of Izbište:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pirot:s goal. 59 minutes into the match, Izbište's Darko Starčević sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Slaviša Vranjković narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Danilo Mićunović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Slaviša Vujanović had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. Izbište's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pirot the free kick. Slaviša Vranjković tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Izbište booed when Pirot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laza Tatar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Darko Starčević blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Slaviša Vranjković having to make a save. Slaviša Vranjković made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Željko Jovančov in the 82nd minute of play. After having played for 85 minutes, Slaviša Vujanović managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pirot's supporters crossed their fingers, but Slaviša Vujanović was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marinko Rukavina didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Slaviša Vujanović went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Željko Jovančov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Darko Starčević fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Slaviša Vranjković having to interfere. Pirot succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Izbište had controlled the match.
