The supporters of Pirot booed when Petrovaradin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marko Konjović didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute of the match Vladislav Đalović shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mitar Ristanović showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Pirot's zone, Đorđe Puzović stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Slaviša Vranjković came out of the goal and Đorđe Puzović tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Đorđe Puzović came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Petrovaradin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đorđe Puzović couldn't finish the play. The Pirot fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Petrovaradin were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
