Romford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stefan Mijin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Redruth's Beli Perović got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lale Simeunović took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marijan Milovanović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 24 played minutes Romford got a freekick which was hit by Nenad Naumović. 26 minutes into the match, Romford's goal looked a bit too open when Beli Perović came free, but Lale Simeunović reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Romford booed when Redruth was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marijan Milovanović didn't get a good kick on the ball. Redruth's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Romford the free kick. Manjo Šljukić kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marijan Milovanović in the 45th minute of play forced Romford's goalkeeper Lale Simeunović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marijan Milovanović blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lale Simeunović having to make a save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 54th match minute, Romford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stojadin Lukač to maneuver through the defense. Komnen Starčanin, 55 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Beli Perović had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. In the 62nd minute, Beli Perović got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 68 minutes into the match, Romford's Cvetko Pelević sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nino Peročević narrowly saved just below the crossbar. During the 76th minute of the match Manjo Šljukić completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Manjo Šljukić a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Redruth getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Manjo Šljukić hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Stefan Mijin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nino Peročević was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. If Stefan Mijin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Marijan Milovanović came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Redruth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marijan Milovanović couldn't finish the play. Lale Simeunović stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Beli Perović's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Nino Peročević showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefan Mijin, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute.
