Caerwyn Jack showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rheged Wainwright, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kynon Huckaby got free with Trevelyan Hanley in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rheged Wainwright in the 30th minute of play forced Penarth Utd's goalkeeper Caerwyn Jack to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Penarth Utd's Caerwyn Jack played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Braen Keaty in the 32nd minute of play. If Rheged Wainwright had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Rhyl eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
