An unexpectedly hard shot by Irvin Leslie in the 5th minute of play forced UWA Penarth's goalkeeper Griffith Drummond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Griffith Drummond stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Irvin Leslie's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Cadwaladr Jones made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berth Brisbane in the 15th minute of play. Kenyon Spurrer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Cadwaladr Jones tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, UWA Penarth's Griffith Drummond got control of the ball when Eudav Cottrell tried to sneak it across the goal line. Berth Brisbane received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Cadwaladr Jones tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Griffith Drummond made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Eudav Cottrell sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in UWA Penarth's zone, Eudav Cottrell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Griffith Drummond came out of the goal and Eudav Cottrell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kenyon Spurrer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Berth Brisbane to strike the kick off in the second half. Berth Brisbane fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cadwaladr Jones having to interfere. Griffith Drummond made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Irvin Leslie in the 58th minute of play. In the 71st minute of the game, Padrig Essig landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 71 minutes, Cas Gardner mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the UWA Penarth and the Ely FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ely FC booed when UWA Penarth was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cas Gardner didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Ely FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching UWA Penarth's performance. The match ended with a win for UWA Penarth.
