Spectators: 7674 (Terracing: 5756, Seating: 1765, VIP seats: 153) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rhett Gee kicked off to start the match. Sel Faherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Prydwen Bishop during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th match minute, Newtown Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Prydwen Bishop to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rhett Gee in the 6th minute of play forced Newtown Utd's goalkeeper Ermid Fabian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rhett Gee in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ermid Fabian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 20th minute, Sel Faherty got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rhett Gee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermid Fabian having to interfere. A collision led to UWA Penarth getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Maxen Boham hit a great ball. Newtown Utd's Gwawl Gallagher couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 29th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for UWA Penarth. 30 minutes into the match, Sel Faherty notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Newtown Utd's Ermid Fabian. Ermid Fabian was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Newtown Utd's Ermid Fabian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sel Faherty in the 35th minute of play. Ermid Fabian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sel Faherty, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Ermid Fabian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sel Faherty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cedric Boston stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sel Faherty recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of UWA Penarth booed when Newtown Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pawl Lormer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 70 played minutes Newtown Utd got a freekick which was hit by Oswallt Burgess. After having played for 77 minutes, Sel Faherty managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. UWA Penarth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sel Faherty was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Newtown Utd's Anwir Julien got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ermid Fabian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rhett Gee in the 85th minute of the match. Anwir Julien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Brad Gately tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rhett Gee had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Prydwen Bishop came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Newtown Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Prydwen Bishop couldn't finish the play.
