Olwydd Farley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Ermid Fabian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ermid Fabian didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Olwydd Farley went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Olwydd Farley took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ermid Fabian. Ermid Fabian dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Ely's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Cedric Boston scored to the left of an out of position Garnock Gilboy, making the score, 1-2. After 20 minutes of play, Ely's Llwydeu Colville made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ermid Fabian was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tomos Chaston hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 24thth minute of the game Llwydeu Colville who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newtown Utd's Ermid Fabian was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The attack was good, but when Olwydd Farley in the 25th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Ermid Fabian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olwydd Farley in the 28th minute of the match. Llwydeu Colville fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermid Fabian having to interfere. Anwir Julien took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Garnock Gilboy. Garnock Gilboy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Olwydd Farley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermid Fabian having to interfere. In the 42nd minute Ely were awarded a corner. Ermid Forsyth went to the cornerflag to take it. Ermid Fabian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olwydd Farley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 48 minutes into the match, Ely's Olwydd Farley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ermid Fabian narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Llwydeu Colville to strike the kick off in the second half. When Tomos Chaston fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ely's protests and gave Tomos Chaston a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ely getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Tomos Chaston hit a great ball. In the 60th minute, Pawl Lormer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Drystan Hynes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Ermid Fabian made a huge save. In the 72nd minute, Llwydeu Colville ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ermid Fabian was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. Cedric Boston's late challenge caught a Ely's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cedric Boston helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Ely booed when Newtown Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cedric Boston didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ermid Fabian made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Olwydd Farley sent off a good shot on target. In the 79th minute, Oswallt Burgess hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Olwydd Farley got free with Ermid Fabian in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ely's goalkeeper Garnock Gilboy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 87th minute Llwydeu Colville shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermid Fabian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Llwydeu Colville had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Ely's goal looked a bit too open when Anwir Julien came free, but Garnock Gilboy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
