Spectators: 6781 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1781, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Cerdic Cornell got the match started through his kick off. In the 4th minute, Cerdic Cornell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Owein Gaoler was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. If Gwyddno Clifton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tegvan Connolly hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Cerdic Cornell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Owein Gaoler having to interfere. In the 20th minute, Rhyl's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gwyddno Clifton fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Cerdic Cornell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Owein Gaoler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kynon Bradshaw showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Malvern Hermans in the 34th minute of the match. Cynan Hay might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kynon Bradshaw. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cynan Hay ran back to his position shaking his head. Rhyl's Owein Gaoler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cerdic Cornell in the 39th minute of play. In the 42ndth minute of the game Cerdic Cornell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rhyl's Owein Gaoler was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cynan Hay in the 44th minute of play forced Newtown's goalkeeper Kynon Bradshaw to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Malvern Hermans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Malvern Hermans in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kynon Bradshaw saved Newtown from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Malvern Hermans to make the kick off. Cynan Hay recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Trefor Gardner kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Cynan Hay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Newtown's Kynon Bradshaw proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Newtown from getting a goal against them. 66 minutes into the game, Owein Caudle was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rhyl's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtown the free kick. Owein Gaoler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cerdic Cornell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cerdic Cornell in the 75th minute of play forced Rhyl's goalkeeper Owein Gaoler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes into the game, Eryi Bailie was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rhyl's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtown the free kick. Eryi Bailie kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Malvern Hermans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kynon Bradshaw having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cerdic Cornell in the 88th minute of play forced Rhyl's goalkeeper Owein Gaoler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute, Gwyddno Clifton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 94 minutes, Cerdic Cornell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newtown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cerdic Cornell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute Gwyddno Clifton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Owein Gaoler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cerdic Cornell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Malvern Hermans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rhyl's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
