Spectators: 6783 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1783, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Garym Birkbeck started the match with the kick off. Jones Little showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garym Birkbeck, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After 6 played minutes Cardiff Utd got a freekick which was hit by Gerallt Lea. Powell Bussey's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 7thth minute, Jones Little skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 11th minute of the match Anwar Chase sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Padrig Convery skillfully saved the ball. Colwyn Garland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Padrig Convery read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. In the 16th minute Garym Birkbeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jones Little saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 played minutes Cardiff Utd got a freekick which was hit by Gwyddno Ironside. With his leg Jones Little managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when Ely's Garym Birkbeck fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ceithin Clerk during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ely's Ceithin Clerk got a free kick in the 21st minute. Padrig Convery took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Myrddin Linkletter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Myrddin Linkletter in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Padrig Convery saved Ely from getting behind. Ely's Powell Bussey got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jones Little made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garym Birkbeck in the 36th minute of play. Garym Birkbeck was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 39th minute. Ely's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With his leg Jones Little managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when Ely's Powell Bussey fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Colwyn Garland made a kick off. In the 63rd minute Garym Birkbeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jones Little saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Myrddin Linkletter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Powell Bussey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jones Little having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Powell Bussey notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Cardiff Utd's Jones Little. Jones Little was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 80 minutes into the game, Eryi Simmons was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ely's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cardiff Utd the free kick. In the 83rd minute of the match Brice Crosby shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jones Little showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Gerallt Lea hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Ely's Padrig Convery got control of the ball when Myrddin Linkletter tried to sneak it across the goal line. Colwyn Garland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Colwyn Garland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Padrig Convery tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 93rd minute of the match Eryi Simmons completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Eryi Simmons a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Cardiff Utd booed when Ely was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eryi Simmons didn't get a good kick on the ball. Myrddin Linkletter in the 95thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Padrig Convery, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Hydd Hodgson hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. In the 99th minute, Colwyn Garland fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Padrig Convery, passed just outside the right post. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Ely had won after a very even match.
