In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ely's goalkeeper Padrig Convery, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ely's Garym Birkbeck got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. UWA Bridgend's Cadfan Cumberland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Powell Bussey in the 21st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ardwyad Cundall's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Padrig Convery was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. UWA Bridgend's Cadfan Cumberland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Powell Bussey in the 27th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Griffin Denman during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ely booed when UWA Bridgend was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ermid Dutton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ardwyad Cundall stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
