Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robat Herne in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anwar Allen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute, Odgar Brickin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gwevyl Kavanagh was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 12 minutes into the match, Ely's goal looked a bit too open when Robat Herne came free, but Anwar Allen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Odgar Brickin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Llangollen Utd getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Bogart Carr hit a great ball. In the 18th minute Odgar Brickin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gwevyl Kavanagh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ely booed when Llangollen Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cai Blackadder didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Robat Herne got free with Anwar Allen in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37th minute Odgar Brickin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gwevyl Kavanagh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gwevyl Kavanagh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huw Earley in the 42nd minute of play. In the 44thth minute of the game Odgar Brickin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Llangollen Utd's Gwevyl Kavanagh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robat Herne to make the kick off. In the 54th minute, Odgar Brickin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anwar Allen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenyon Howe, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. If Kenyon Howe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Kenyon Howe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Llangollen Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Kenyon Howe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anwar Allen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 70th minute, Neued Foltz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd match minute, Llangollen Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenyon Howe to maneuver through the defense. When Cai Blackadder fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Llangollen Utd's protests and gave Cai Blackadder a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th minute, Cai Blackadder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Llangollen Utd's zone, Huw Earley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gwevyl Kavanagh came out of the goal and Huw Earley tried to chip the ball over his head. In the 83rd minute, Cai Blackadder hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brastias Helwick's late challenge caught a Llangollen Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brastias Helwick helped the player get up and apologised. Brastias Helwick hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Kenyon Howe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anwar Allen having to interfere. After 87 played minutes Ely got a freekick which was hit by Neued Foltz. After having played for 89 minutes, Kenyon Howe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Llangollen Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kenyon Howe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kenyon Howe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Anwar Allen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kenyon Howe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anwar Allen having to interfere. The Ely supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ely would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
