Match Report

Maesteg Stadium
Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0)
The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Bradwr Ivers took the kick off in the first half of the match. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Bradwr Ivers took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Tringad Foote to make any attempt to save it. In the 7th match minute, Swansea FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kent Manciple to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Bradwr Ivers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tringad Foote was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. Peredur Gilfoyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 12th minute Ysberin Erwin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lleu Kilpatrick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th match minute, Maesteg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Garnock Elias to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Maesteg's zone, Rhun Hill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lleu Kilpatrick came out of the goal and Rhun Hill tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bradwr Ivers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tringad Foote having to interfere. Nerth Duffer took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lleu Kilpatrick. Maesteg's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Swansea FC's Tringad Foote played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradwr Ivers in the 31st minute of play. After 33 played minutes, Maesteg's Pryderi Bradley shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tringad Foote came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Maesteg reached it. If Meical Fry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Maesteg's Geraint Erwin got a free kick in the 47th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rhun Hill to strike the kick off in the second half. Eudav Laing hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peredur Gilfoyle in the 61st minute of play forced Swansea FC's goalkeeper Tringad Foote to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62ndth minute of the game Bradwr Ivers who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Swansea FC's Tringad Foote was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Peredur Gilfoyle had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tringad Foote. Swansea FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Peredur Gilfoyle was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Swansea FC's Rhun Hill got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Rhun Hill came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Swansea FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rhun Hill couldn't finish the play. In the 74th minute Rhun Hill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lleu Kilpatrick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garnock Elias's late challenge caught a Swansea FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Garnock Elias helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Maesteg's Garnock Elias got a free kick in the 75th minute. If Meical Fry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot by Parry Hamran from long distance, 80 minutes into the match, got Lleu Kilpatrick's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maesteg's goalkeeper Lleu Kilpatrick, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lleu Kilpatrick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rhun Hill, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Rhun Hill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Lleu Kilpatrick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Maesteg fans cheered their team off the field, for while Swansea FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
