The referee ignored Penarth's protests and gave Gwyr Eccleston a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Penarth getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Gwyr Eccleston hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, Talgarth Utd's goalkeeper March Fishbourne had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Urien Barnett. Pryderi Blighe hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Celyn Eccles during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anwell Dunn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Howell Folds read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Urien Barnett was the one to do the kick off. Amerawdwr Crittle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Anwell Dunn might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Howell Folds. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anwell Dunn ran back to his position shaking his head. Howell Folds breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Anwell Dunn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Howell Folds read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Talgarth Utd's Howell Folds threw himself towards the right post 93 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Anwell Dunn, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. During the 94th minute of the match Bwlch Inger completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Bwlch Inger a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Bwlch Inger hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
