When Awstin Dowdall came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Puddlemere United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Awstin Dowdall couldn't finish the play. Padrig Potter kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After 7 played minutes Penarth got a freekick which was hit by Rhys Davies. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Penarth:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Puddlemere United:s goal. Albanwr Guthrie shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Puddlemere United's Padrig Grantham got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the game, Gwawl Hussey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Penarth's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Puddlemere United the free kick. Puddlemere United's Gethin Bonham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tremayne Denton in the 24th minute of play. After 25 played minutes Penarth got a freekick which was hit by Rhys Davies. When Padrig Potter came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Puddlemere United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Padrig Potter couldn't finish the play. If Padrig Potter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Padrig Potter in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kai Burchett prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Padrig Potter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Kai Burchett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kai Burchett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jones Farran in the 44th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
After a rather tough play, Puddlemere United's Selyv Hayhurst got a free kick in the 51st minute. 55 minutes into the match, Penarth's goal looked a bit too open when Padrig Grantham came free, but Kai Burchett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Puddlemere United's Padrig Potter got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gethin Bonham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rhys Davies, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After a rather tough play, Puddlemere United's Jones Farran got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 67th minute, Selyv Hayhurst hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Padrig Potter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kai Burchett having to interfere. If Padrig Potter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Selyv Hayhurst received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Kai Burchett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Puddlemere United players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
