The supporters of Bridgend booed when Rhyl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calcas Alvey didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute, Keith Gill sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Rhyl's Kent Fergus didn't even have to move. Pellyn Flaherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute Pyrs Hetherington shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kent Fergus saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pellyn Flaherty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Kent Fergus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brad Burgonmaster made an important save on a dangerous shot by Yestin Harden in the 21st minute. Lloyd Hibberd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brad Burgonmaster having to interfere. A collision led to Bridgend getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Keith Gill hit a great ball. In the 25th minute of the match, Lloyd Hibberd tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Brad Burgonmaster saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bridgend's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Baudwin Fry was slow to take the kick. During this time Rhyl's players had a chance to rest. Pellyn Flaherty struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Kent Fergus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bridgend. Pasgen Gregson hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. In the 42nd minute, Anwir Lambin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kent Fergus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pellyn Flaherty in the 44th minute of the match. In the 47th minute Lloyd Hibberd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brad Burgonmaster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Lloyd Hibberd made the kick off in the second half. Calcas Alvey was shown his second yellow card after 53 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 53rd match minute, Rhyl was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calcas Alvey to maneuver through the defense. Yestin Harden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brad Burgonmaster having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pellyn Flaherty got free with Kent Fergus in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pellyn Flaherty recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute, Lloyd Hibberd made a precise shot to the right of Brad Burgonmaster. Bridgend's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lloyd Hibberd during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rhyl getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Lloyd Hibberd hit a great ball. Pellyn Flaherty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brad Burgonmaster took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yestin Harden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lloyd Hibberd struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Brad Burgonmaster didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rhyl. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rhyl's goalkeeper Kent Fergus, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Rhyl fans cheered their team off the field, for while Bridgend had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
