After a defensive mix-up in Rhyl's zone, Ol Farthing stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kent Fergus came out of the goal and Ol Farthing tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Newtown booed when Rhyl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pasgen Gregson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brys Lodder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brys Lodder kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the match, Rhyl's Yestin Harden sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Berth Keene narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 25th minute Lloyd Hibberd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berth Keene saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Newtown's Myrddin Lindsey got a free kick in the 27th minute. Kent Fergus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brys Lodder, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 32 minutes, Ol Farthing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newtown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ol Farthing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ol Farthing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the match, Rhyl's goal looked a bit too open when Ol Farthing came free, but Kent Fergus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Brys Lodder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brys Lodder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brys Lodder made a kick off. If Yestin Harden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 53rd minute, Lloyd Hibberd ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Berth Keene was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Rhyl's Kent Fergus proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Rhyl from getting a goal against them. Pasgen Gregson kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Newtown's Ol Farthing got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 72nd minute, Brys Lodder got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ol Farthing got free with Kent Fergus in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lloyd Hibberd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Berth Keene tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Newtown's zone, Yestin Harden stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Berth Keene came out of the goal and Yestin Harden tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Newtown's Berth Keene played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lloyd Hibberd in the 82nd minute of play. If Lloyd Hibberd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute, Newtown's Brys Lodder dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Brys Lodder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rhyl's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
