The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. UWA Cardigan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bryn Hildreth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 10 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Myrddin Beers sped through UWA Cardigan's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gwern Flood. In the 13thth minute of the game Kevyn Hewitt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UWA Cardigan's Gwern Flood was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Myrddin Beers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gwern Flood read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Gwern Flood came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by UWA Bridgend's Myrddin Beers. But to his dismay, Myrddin Beers quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Lavaine Goodman managed to get in a good position for a shot. UWA Bridgend's supporters rose to their feet, but Lavaine Goodman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gwern Flood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 25th minute Moesen Beale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mabon Jolson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Moesen Beale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mabon Jolson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bryn Hildreth in the 34th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in UWA Bridgend fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! Myrddin Beers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in UWA Cardigan's zone, Lavaine Goodman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gwern Flood came out of the goal and Lavaine Goodman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Lavaine Goodman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
