After a rather tough play, UWA Newtown's Elphin Gilfin got a free kick in the 3rd minute. UWA Newtown's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UWA Knighton the free kick. UWA Knighton's Bedyw Bailie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jones Jack in the 12th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Mael Tucker put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Brice Little. If Jones Jack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bedyw Bailie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Selwyn Gilfin's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Bedyw Bailie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Selwyn Gilfin, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Selwyn Gilfin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bedyw Bailie having to interfere. Gwres Felton's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Brice Little firmly grabbed it by the left post. Gwres Felton ran back to his position shaking his head. Mael Tucker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, UWA Newtown's goalkeeper Brice Little had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gwres Felton. When Selwyn Gilfin came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the UWA Newtown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Selwyn Gilfin couldn't finish the play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jones Jack was the one to do the kick off. UWA Newtown's Brice Little played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gwres Felton in the 70th minute of play.
