After 24 played minutes, UWA Knighton's Eryi Davis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Siarl Cohen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in UWA Knighton reached it. UWA Knighton's Bedyw Bailie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tudur Lamphier in the 28th minute of play. If Tudur Lamphier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Gwres Felton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Siarl Cohen was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. UWA Knighton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gwres Felton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kynon Fairbanks to make the kick off. UWA Knighton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Treorchy the free kick. The supporters of Treorchy booed when UWA Knighton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cadwaladr Gettins didn't get a good kick on the ball.
