UWA Aberystwyth's Edern Gaughan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yale Lamph in the 18th minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, one of UWA Aberystwyth:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Edern Gaughan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Edern Gaughan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kent Lumpp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nynnyaw Linkletter made a kick off. Granwen Goff charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edern Gaughan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edern Gaughan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kent Lumpp in the 69th minute of play. Rhun Barnett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Yale Lamph came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Porthcawl Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yale Lamph couldn't finish the play.
