Meurig Goldthorpe's late challenge caught a Barry's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Meurig Goldthorpe helped the player get up and apologised. Gethin England stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gormant Adrain's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Barry's Gormant Adrain sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gethin England narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rhyawdd Lloyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Gethin England tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Beven Carr could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Pawl Bussey made a huge save. If Sion Corbett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes in the game, Sion Corbett fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Pawl Bussey having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Rhyawdd Lloyd notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Newtown Utd's Gethin England. Gethin England was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gormant Adrain struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Gethin England didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barry. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Beven Carr got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Barry booed when Newtown Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olwydd Albert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Pawl Bussey came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Newtown Utd's Sion Corbett. But to his dismay, Sion Corbett quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 59th minute Beven Carr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pawl Bussey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Sion Corbett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newtown Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Sion Corbett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pawl Bussey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Beven Carr sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 74 minutes, Sion Corbett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
