After a rather tough play, Rushden United's Mohamed Mouaia Nefzi got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 6th minute Adel Sellimi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ben Ayari saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adel Sellimi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Ben Ayari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ben Ayari made an important save on a dangerous shot by Majdi Akimi in the 11th minute. Ben Ayari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adel Sellimi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ali Maatouk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rushden United's Ben Ayari proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Rushden United from getting a goal against them. Ali Maatouk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mehdi Farhat having to interfere. Mehdi Farhat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ali Maatouk, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute, Ben Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute, Ali Maatouk made a precise shot to the right of Mehdi Farhat. Frome's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Mehdi Farhat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mohamed Mouaia Nefzi in the 35th minute of the match. Mehdi Farhat came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Rushden United's Ali Maatouk. But to his dismay, Ali Maatouk quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. If Majdi Akimi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the game, Ali Maatouk cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Mehdi Farhat was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adel Sellimi to make the kick off. Ben Ayari made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adel Sellimi in the 55th minute of play. In the 62nd minute Adel Sellimi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ben Ayari saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rushden United's Ben Ayari played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Majdi Akimi in the 76th minute of play. If Ali Maatouk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Frome fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mehdi Farhat should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ali Maatouk in the 95th minute of play forced Frome's goalkeeper Mehdi Farhat to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 96 minutes into the game, Rushden United's Abdallah Ben Saada nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mehdi Farhat made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6.
