Spectators: 6738 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1738, VIP seats: 0) In the 2nd minute Akram Dhouib shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kameleddine Kalaï saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Northampton's Kameleddine Kalaï played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Muhammad Ghannem in the 3rd minute of play. Riadh Baya showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sahbi Karoui in the 6th minute of the match. Chokri Jaziri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Riadh Baya made a huge save. Sahbi Karoui might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Riadh Baya. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sahbi Karoui ran back to his position shaking his head. Kameleddine Kalaï made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Akram Dhouib in the 11th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Sahbi Karoui managed to get in a good position for a shot. Northampton's supporters rose to their feet, but Sahbi Karoui was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Riadh Baya breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 19 minutes, Chokri Jaziri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Northampton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chokri Jaziri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 20 minutes into the game, Riadh Badra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gainsborough United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Northampton the free kick. In the 20th match minute, Gainsborough United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Riadh Badra to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the game, Sahbi Karoui recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Riadh Baya. Sahbi Karoui showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. After a rather tough play, Northampton's Mehdi al-Munsif Bey got a free kick in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Muhammad Ghannem in the 29th minute of play forced Northampton's goalkeeper Kameleddine Kalaï to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Gainsborough United getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Zine Kerrit hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute, Houcine Amri sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Gainsborough United's Riadh Baya didn't even have to move. After 34 played minutes Northampton got a freekick which was hit by Houcine Mourali. 2-0 became the score in the 38th minute when Sahbi Karoui elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 46 minutes, Mehdi al-Munsif Bey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Northampton and the Gainsborough United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sahbi Karoui in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Riadh Baya prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Akram Dhouib fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kameleddine Kalaï having to interfere. Chokri Jaziri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Riadh Baya read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Akram Dhouib struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Kameleddine Kalaï didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gainsborough United. In the 65th minute of the match Houcine Amri shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Riadh Baya showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kameleddine Kalaï made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Akram Dhouib in the 69th minute of play. Riadh Badra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kameleddine Kalaï having to interfere. After 75 played minutes Northampton got a freekick which was hit by Mehdi al-Munsif Bey. After having played for 81 minutes, Muhammad Ghannem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gainsborough United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Muhammad Ghannem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gainsborough United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zine Kerrit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Muhammad Ghannem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
