In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Earlston's goalkeeper Troy McDuffie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 27 minutes into the match, maryhill bhoys's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander McChlerich came free, but Ivan McCrouther reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ivan Skinner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute, Freddie McQuartie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Earlston's Alexander McChlerich got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 37 minutes into the game, Ron Dyer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. maryhill bhoys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Earlston the free kick. After 37 played minutes maryhill bhoys got a freekick which was hit by Ron Dyer. Shaun Clyne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ivan Skinner to strike the kick off in the second half. Troy McDuffie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Freddie McQuartie in the 53rd minute of the match. Ron Dyer was shown his second yellow card after 67 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. When Earlston's Alexander McChlerich in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivan McCrouther prevented the ball from getting in the gole. maryhill bhoys's Ivan McCrouther played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexander McChlerich in the 84th minute of play. A collision led to maryhill bhoys getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Will Adams hit a great ball. After taking down the ball on Earlston's corner Arthur Henderson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ivan McCrouther quite easily take care of the ball. In the 91st minute, Alexander McChlerich got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Shaun Clyne struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Ivan McCrouther didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Earlston. For all the effort they put into the match, the Earlston players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for maryhill bhoys.
