Seating: 1809, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Danny Johnston kicked off to start the match. Rod Williamson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Darius Allan having to make a save. Nicky McAulay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liam Laidlaw having to interfere. Nicky McAulay who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Liam Laidlaw when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kirriemuir's Darius Allan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danny Johnston in the 11th minute of play. After 12 played minutes Kirriemuir got a freekick which was hit by Gregor Cookson. In the 17th minute, Nicky McAulay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Kirriemuir's zone, Rod Williamson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darius Allan came out of the goal and Rod Williamson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicky McAulay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Liam Laidlaw having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Banff's Matthew McKinley got a free kick in the 29th minute. Liam Laidlaw was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Kyle Adair. When Lucas Grieve came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Kirriemuir fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lucas Grieve couldn't finish the play. Nicky McAulay struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Liam Laidlaw didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kirriemuir. Lucas Grieve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liam Laidlaw having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Lucas Grieve's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Liam Laidlaw was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Nicky McAulay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liam Laidlaw having to interfere.
Banff's Liam Laidlaw played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicky McAulay in the 53rd minute of play. In the 54th minute Lucas Grieve shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Liam Laidlaw saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Liam Laidlaw showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucas Grieve, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. When Guy Inches fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Banff's protests and gave Guy Inches a yellow card for diving instead. Guy Inches hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. 65 minutes into the match, Lucas Grieve had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Liam Laidlaw. Banff's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lucas Grieve was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 68 played minutes Banff got a freekick which was hit by Roddie McDuff. Rod Williamson came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Darius Allan could save by the left post. Nicky McAulay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Liam Laidlaw having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Grieve in the 76th minute of play forced Banff's goalkeeper Liam Laidlaw to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Rod Williamson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Banff's supporters rose to their feet, but Rod Williamson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darius Allan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 79th match minute, Banff was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danny Johnston to maneuver through the defense. Nicky Whannell hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute, Guy Inches hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Kirriemuir booed when Banff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamish McKerracher didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rod Williamson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Banff players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Kirriemuir.
