After a rather tough play, Canonbie's Conor Thomson got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute, George Buckley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Les McWalrick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph McQuistan having to interfere. In the 23rd play minute George Buckley came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Wal Fair. 1-0. Bob McCombie struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Joseph McQuistan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canonbie. Canonbie's Wal Fair played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nathan Russell in the 39th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 53 played minutes Canonbie got a freekick which was hit by Nicol Wilkinson. After a defensive mix-up in Canonbie's zone, George Buckley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wal Fair came out of the goal and George Buckley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nathan Russell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wal Fair made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nathan Russell in the 61st minute of play. In the 61st match minute, Canonbie was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuel McQuhirr to maneuver through the defense. Wal Fair took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nathan Russell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nathan Russell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
