The supporters of Lybster booed when Canonbie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conor Thomson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frankie Gunn took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wal Fair. Canonbie's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Wal Fair showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rory McRuer, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Canonbie's goal looked a bit too open when Arthur Carstarphen came free, but Wal Fair reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Arthur Carstarphen made the kick off in the second half. Wal Fair made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rory McRuer in the 53rd minute. Wal Fair showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arthur Carstarphen, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. In the 76th minute, Rick McSorley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Les McWalrick came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Canonbie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Les McWalrick couldn't finish the play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
