Rick McRaith didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thomas McDonnell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 9 played minutes Helmsdale got a freekick which was hit by Freddie Barlow. Stevie Keene sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 15 minutes, Jordan Greig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Helmsdale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jordan Greig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Douglas Archibald got free with Tam Federith in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Shane Murphy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jordan Greig, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Helmsdale's zone, Douglas Archibald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tam Federith came out of the goal and Douglas Archibald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Douglas Archibald might have been able to make a better finish in the 31st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tam Federith. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Douglas Archibald ran back to his position shaking his head. When Kevin Carson, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 32 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Tam Federith was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Kevin Carson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Thomas McDonnell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Helmsdale's Tam Federith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Carson in the 43rd minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thomas McDonnell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Helmsdale's Tam Federith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Douglas Archibald in the 57th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Helmsdale's Tam Howie got a free kick in the 67th minute. Kevin Carson might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tam Federith. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kevin Carson ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute, Adam McCabe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 75 minutes into the game, Guy Abbotson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Helmsdale's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yarmouth the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Douglas Archibald in the 80th minute of play forced Helmsdale's goalkeeper Tam Federith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kevin Carson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kevin Carson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Tam Federith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jordan Greig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Shane Murphy made a huge save. 93 minutes into the match, Kevin Carson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tam Federith. Helmsdale's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kevin Carson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0.
