Spectators: 6786 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1786, VIP seats: 0) The audience thought a goal was coming when Timothy Brewster got free with Shane Murphy in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Kevin Carson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yarmouth's supporters rose to their feet, but Kevin Carson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrick McMurchie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The attack was good, but when Timothy Brewster in the 13th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Shane Murphy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Terence McCoull, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Terence McCoull fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shane Murphy having to interfere. Shane Murphy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Terence McCoull, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Johnstone United's Patrick McMurchie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Douglas Archibald in the 22nd minute of play. In the 27th minute, Yarmouth's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Terence McCoull fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Terence McCoull in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Shane Murphy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Kevin Carson, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 38 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Patrick McMurchie was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Patrick McMurchie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Douglas Archibald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patrick McMurchie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kevin Carson's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Timothy Brewster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Kevin Carson made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Arthur Dowe left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Johnstone United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Douglas Archibald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Yarmouth's zone, Timothy Brewster stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shane Murphy came out of the goal and Timothy Brewster tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 82 played minutes Johnstone United got a freekick which was hit by Declan Clyne. 84 minutes into the match, Yarmouth's Douglas Archibald sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Patrick McMurchie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 86th minute, Douglas Archibald left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yarmouth fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Douglas Archibald came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Yarmouth fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Douglas Archibald couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Yarmouth eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
