Spectators: 6806 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1806, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Paddy Lemond started the match with the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers William Appleby in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John Arrol saved Hawick AFC from getting behind. William Appleby blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without John Arrol having to make a save. Paddy Lemond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nick McBean having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Biggar United's zone, Paddy Lemond stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nick McBean came out of the goal and Paddy Lemond tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 15th minute, Irvin Alcock ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. John Arrol was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Jimmy McOmie fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hawick AFC's protests and gave Jimmy McOmie a yellow card for diving instead. Jimmy McOmie hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. William Appleby might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over John Arrol. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. William Appleby ran back to his position shaking his head. Biggar United's Adam Milroy got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. William Appleby scored 0-2 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of John Arrol, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 41st minute William Appleby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Arrol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Quentin Murchison hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 49th minute, Biggar United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after James Sinclair fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Irvin Alcock made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Irvin Alcock's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John Arrol was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. John Arrol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Irvin Alcock in the 64th minute of play. In the 65th match minute, Hawick AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Larry McGhee to maneuver through the defense. Paddy Lemond received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Nick McBean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by James Sinclair in the 72nd minute of play forced Biggar United's goalkeeper Nick McBean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Paddy Lemond ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nick McBean was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. With a little luck, Hawick AFC's John Arrol got control of the ball when Adam Milroy tried to sneak it across the goal line. With his leg John Arrol managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when Biggar United's William Appleby fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Nick McBean took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from James Sinclair, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Connor Murdoson kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. When Paddy Lemond came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Hawick AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paddy Lemond couldn't finish the play. In the 91st minute, Irvin Alcock fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of John Arrol, passed just outside the right post.
