Calum Drummond showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James Sinclair, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Haddington's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hawick AFC the free kick. In the 22nd match minute, Haddington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gregor Neil to maneuver through the defense. James Sinclair's late challenge caught a Haddington's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. James Sinclair helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Hawick AFC's James Sinclair got a free kick in the 28th minute. Haddington's Calum Drummond played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paddy Lemond in the 29th minute of play. In the 39th minute Paddy Lemond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calum Drummond saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute, James Sinclair ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Calum Drummond was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Paddy Lemond sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

After 52 played minutes Hawick AFC got a freekick which was hit by James Sinclair. Matthew McRobbie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Arrol having to interfere. John Arrol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremy McIlreach, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Hawick AFC's James Sinclair sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Calum Drummond narrowly saved just below the crossbar. John Arrol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephen McEachran in the 61st minute of play. Haddington's Calum Drummond proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Haddington from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremy McIlreach in the 76th minute of play forced Hawick AFC's goalkeeper John Arrol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
