Spectators: 7765 (Terracing: 5825, Seating: 1786, VIP seats: 154) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Paddy Lemond kicked off to start the match. After 5 played minutes Hawick AFC got a freekick which was hit by Quentin Murchison. Paddy Lemond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jake King having to interfere. 10 minutes into the match, Corrour's goal looked a bit too open when Paddy Lemond came free, but Jake King reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Willie Griesck in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck John Arrol prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jake King showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James Sinclair, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Charles Chisholm hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute, James Sinclair got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that James Sinclair's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jake King was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Jake King made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paddy Lemond in the 23rd minute of play. Paddy Lemond sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Charles Chisholm managed to get in a good position for a shot. Corrour's supporters rose to their feet, but Charles Chisholm was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. John Arrol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 32nd minute, Charles Chisholm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Willie Griesck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 46 minutes into the game, Wayne McAulay was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corrour's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hawick AFC the free kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 53rd minute Willie Griesck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Arrol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 55 minutes, Frank Grewar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corrour's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Grewar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 59 minutes into the match, Hawick AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Willie Griesck came free, but John Arrol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. John Arrol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Willie Griesck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Willie Griesck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frank Grewar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. John Arrol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jake King showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paddy Lemond, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Jake King made an important save on a dangerous shot by James Sinclair in the 74th minute. In the 78th minute Frank Grewar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Arrol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paddy Lemond in the 83rd minute of play forced Corrour's goalkeeper Jake King to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hawick AFC's John Arrol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Willie Griesck in the 87th minute of play. If Paddy Lemond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
