The coaching staff of Melrose protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Timmy McDulothe had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The supporters of Haddington booed when Melrose was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 98 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harold McHendry didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Haddington players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Melrose from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
