George McTear made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicol McGowan in the 13th minute of play. If Barry Stenhouse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. John McIntyre didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Phil Gallie went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Scarinish's John McIntyre proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Scarinish from getting a goal against them. In the 23rd minute, Phil Gallie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 27th minute, Declan McAskill got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Scarinish getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Joe Baldwin hit a great ball. If Declan McAskill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
Euan McIlriach charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Euan McIlriach the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Stonehaven booed when Scarinish was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Euan McIlriach didn't get a good kick on the ball. But to his dismay, Barry Stenhouse quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 56thth minute of the game Barry Stenhouse who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Scarinish's John McIntyre was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 56 played minutes Scarinish got a freekick which was hit by Tom Train. George McTear showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicol McGowan, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Tom Train hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Declan McAskill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. George McTear tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicol McGowan in the 66th minute of play forced Stonehaven's goalkeeper George McTear to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A beautiful save bye Scarinish's goalie prevented a goal. Declan McAskill scored 2-1 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of George McTear, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Stonehaven had won after a very even match.
