The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Derek Skene succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 7th playminute. A collision led to FC Paris Raccoons getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Calum McCammond hit a great ball. Derek Skene in the 15thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Euan Gilespie, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Martin McLaren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Phillip Gilbride's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Jonathan Alderson hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Bruce McConnell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, FC Paris Raccoons's Adrian Taylor got a free kick in the 27th minute. The supporters of FC Paris Raccoons booed when Helmsdale FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruce McConnell didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Derek Skene had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Derek Skene had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Euan Gilespie. FC Paris Raccoons's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Derek Skene was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Sam Ayson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Martin McLaren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bruce McConnell to strike the kick off in the second half. Euan Gilespie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruce McConnell, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Bruce McConnell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Euan Gilespie having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, Adrian Taylor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Timmy Dowe was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 64th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Calum McCammond was shown his second yellow card after 65 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Helmsdale FC booed when FC Paris Raccoons was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calum McCammond didn't get a good kick on the ball. 69 minutes into the game, Helmsdale FC's Bruce McConnell nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Euan Gilespie made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Phillip Gilbride could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Martin McLaren made a huge save. Euan Gilespie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruce McConnell, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Derek Skene fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Euan Gilespie having to interfere. When Adrian Taylor came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the FC Paris Raccoons fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrian Taylor couldn't finish the play. After 90 played minutes Helmsdale FC got a freekick which was hit by Edward Mitchell. In the 92nd minute, Phillip Gilbride hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Helmsdale FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
