The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Darius Neil during the 2nd minute. Aaron McCombich's late challenge caught a Rangers FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aaron McCombich helped the player get up and apologised. After 9 played minutes Kilwinning got a freekick which was hit by Aaron McCombich. Archie McCrain received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Reece Beaton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ter McPhedran might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reece Beaton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The supporters of Kilwinning booed when Rangers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Fleming didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reece Beaton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ter McPhedran in the 36th minute of the match. Chris Fleming kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Kilwinning were awarded a corner. Jim Torry went to the cornerflag to take it. Archie McCrain fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reece Beaton having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ter McPhedran's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reece Beaton was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. 48 minutes into the game, Kilwinning's Archie McCrain nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reece Beaton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Archie McCrain made a kick off. Reece Beaton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Archie McCrain, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ter McPhedran's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Reece Beaton firmly grabbed it by the left post. After a rather tough play, Kilwinning's Guy Cooper got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Archie McCrain received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Reece Beaton came out and tried to block the shot, but Archie McCrain slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 86th minute. Darius Neil got his second yellow card in the match during the 91st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After a rather tough play, Rangers FC's Darius Neil got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Rangers FC's Reece Beaton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Archie McCrain in the 94th minute of play. Kilwinning played a much better game than Rangers FC and deserved their victory. The Rangers FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
